Australia is known as the ‘land down under’ unless you happen to be Australian then it’s ‘Straya’.
Australia consists of six states (South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania) and two territories: the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The capital city of Australia is Canberra which is situated in the ACT.
Tasmania
That’s Tasmania on the right where I was born and bred.Tasmania often gets left off the map of Australia possibly because it’s the smallest and southern most state. I’m being nice here ?
Some of my favourite things about Australia:
- we have the world’s oldest living culture
- we have not one, but hundreds of traditional costumes
- we invented special hats to deter pests such as the zillions of flies
and the swooping magpies
We love our sunnies, blunnies, flannies, uggies and thongs.
But most of all, there are so many things to see and do in the ‘land down under’
